Do you ever drive down a country road, take a walk down River’s Edge Trail, or find yourself outdoors just thinking: “How are we so lucky to live here?”. In this chaotic world we are living in right now, especially, I am so grateful…the word “grateful” doesn’t really even describe my feelings properly.

Scrolling through these images in particular, I am reminded of my luck not only in location, but also in company. And one of my favorite things to do with my family is to get outdoors and away from screens! Other moms out there - how exhausting is it to police the screens these days?! So aside from the beauty, the opportunity to get 40 miles away from technology is an escape for this mama, alone!

If you haven’t hiked to Memorial Falls yet…it is a MUST! Right outside of Monarch, summer or winter, it is absolutely beautiful, and it is an easy enough hike for younger kids, as well (or moms with no endurance…ah-hem…like myself). It’s a half-mile hike up to the falls, but you can take the trail further (like we did).

One of my favorite visuals from this hike is all the moss - growing on the trees, the rocks, the ground - such a pretty pop of color amidst the snow! I know…I’m such a nerd! Can’t help it…those visuals just get me….

Another visual that’s not so bad is that handsome guy (up there). Packing the heat in case we come up on a mountain lion, he’s such a good dad and another favorite of mine is just watching him with our kids. He loves spending time with them as much as I do.

And speaking of that guy…he might be joining the BPP force here soon to help me with some of my shoots, so we took the opportunity of our gorgeous surroundings for a little photo lesson. Needless to say, he did awesome! About half of these images were taken by him…quite the catch, this guy ;-)

So if you are needing some fresh air and are looking for placed to go - put Memorial Falls on your list! Awesome time for your kids to explore (regardless of the age), and a nice reminder that chaos isn’t, in fact, everywhere.
